Hello!

I am a musician, educator, and researcher specializing in bass trombone, performing as both a soloist and orchestral musician. I approach music-making with a focus on clarity, honesty, and a sense of openness—striving to create performances that feel both inviting and sincere. My work centers on the performance and advocacy of orchestral and solo repertoire by Female and Black composers. I am driven by a desire to amplify voices that have historically been underrepresented, using my platform to bring greater visibility not just their music, but to other composers that have yet to be heard. Through both performance and research, I aim to help integrate these works more fully into the academic and professional day to day lives of others.

Collaboration plays an integral part of my artistic process. Closely working with pianists and composers allows me to develop a deeper understanding of the repertoire and uncover more meaningful interpretations. My research has also contributed to bringing overlooked works back into publication, recently with Ulysses S. Kay’s Everett Suite for Solo Bass trombone, reinforcing my commitment to both scholarship and performance.

I have been shaped by my former and current teachers Phil Teele, A.G. McGrannahan III, Dr. Jim Albrecht and Jeff Dee, as well as the artistry of George Roberts and Ed Kleinhammer, whose approaches to sound and musicality continue to inform my own. Growing up in the mountains instilled in me a lasting connection to nature, which influences how I think about sound, space, and musical expression.
